The City of Pueblo recently received one of the City’s largest federal grants in recent history and the largest award in the state of Colorado to replace the City’s diesel buses with hybrid ones. This grant will help change the face of Pueblo’s fleet and lower emissions in the city, which benefits Pueblo residents in multiple ways!
The grant award totaling in $15.5 million comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Buses & Bus Facilities Program and Low-or No-Emission (LWNO) Program. Pueblo Transit will receive an additional $3.9 million in long-range planning funds from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). This is part of CDOT’s 10-year plan for bus replacement within the state.
The money will allow the city to acquire 15 hybrid buses, which will run on diesel and electricity, to replace the existing fleet of diesel buses.
