Travel Training

What is Travel Training?

Travel Training is a FREE personalized service provided to anyone interested in learning how to use the fixed route bus system. This program is customized to meet your individual needs and goals. You will gain the necessary skills to travel independently through hands on experiences. The Travel Trainer will spend as much time needed with you to ensure you are comfortable in traveling on your own. Travel Training is available for groups so feel free to invite a friend.

The Travel Trainer will teach you include but not limited to:

  • Trip Planning
  • Purchasing Passes – on the bus or at the Transit Center
  • Getting to and from bus stops
  • Bus Behavior – Passenger Code of Conduct
  • Safety Skills
  • Pedestrian Skills
  • Getting on and off bus safely using proper fare and mobility aides

How to Request Training

  • Fill out and send online request through attached link, be sure you include contact information.
  • Travel Training sessions will be available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays and will be held from 1:30PM to 4PM starting at the Transit Center, 123 Court St. Any accommodations needed may be requested and adjustments can be considered based on availability. This includes time and day of training as well as training routes and topics.
  • A Customer Service Representative will reach out to you to schedule a Training session.

ANYONE! Seniors. Students. Adults. Individuals with Disabilities. Paratransit Approved Riders. New to Pueblo Area.

Travel Training Programs Available

Group Transit Training

The purpose of this training is to provide an overview of Pueblo Transit and the benefits of using public transportation to participants or agency/organization personnel. Having this knowledge allows you to better assist clients you serve. Training topics are customized for your audience. Training is provided in the field while experiencing first-hand the process of taking a bus trip.

Topics may include:

  • Transportation Options
  • Trip Planning
  • Reading Pueblo Transit Maps and Stop Times
  • Travel Safety Tips
  • Navigating Pueblo Transit Website

Groups will be limited to 10 individuals per training session. Larger groups may be split into separate training sessions.

Individual Trainer Program

Pueblo Transit offers an outside trainer program. Any agency/organization staff that would like to provide their own training to their clients may obtain a trainer badge from the Transit Center. A Trainer badge will allow the trainer and one trainee to board busses throughout the day for free while in training.

For more information or to obtain a trainer badge and schedule a training:

  • Fill out and send online request through attached link, be sure you include contact information.
  • Trainer Trainings may also be scheduled during available Travel Training times of Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays and will be held from 1:30PM to 4PM starting at the Transit Center, 123 Court St.
  • Once the Trainer is Trained, all training times must be requested and approved with Pueblo Transit
  • A Customer Service Representative will reach out to you to ensure you proper training and provide a badge and schedule training sessions to follow.

Individual Trainer Program

Paratransit Services

Citi Lift will also offer the same group and individual programs. Simply select Paratransit Services when filling out the request form.

A Customer Service Representative will coordinate with Citi Lift to ensure you are schedules for Paratransit training.

Group trainings will be offered Thursdays and/ Or Fridays, starting at 1:30pm to approximately 3:30pm, from the Pueblo Transit building at 350 S. Alan Hamel Ave. Any accommodations and additional Paratransit information and training needed may be requested and adjustments can be considered based on availability. This includes time and day of training as well as training routes and topics.

Groups training for paratransit services through Citi Lift will be limited to 4 individuals per training session.

Trainer Trainings may also be scheduled during available the same group Travel Training times.

Once trained, Individual Travel Trainers would assist Citi Lift driver while working with their trainees as prescheduled with Citi Lift.

Invite Us to Your Event

Pueblo Transit staff will attend your event or resource fair in efforts to provide educational resources to your attendees. Staff will also discuss how to participate in the Travel Training program, Group Transit Training or how to apply for programs such as Paratransit.
