The Pueblo Police Department would like to commend Police Cpl. Gene Ragulsky for his humanitarian efforts in assisting a Pueblo Citizen in need.
Recently, during Cpl. Ragulsky’s normal patrol duties, he came across a 59 year old male who was causing concern. In dealing with the distraught man, Cpl. Ragulsky learned the male was previously a boss in a large plant in Indiana until a work related injury left him disabled. The accident caused him to lose his job and family, be placed on disability and end up homeless in Pueblo.
When the male was finally able to rent a place to live, he rented items that he was paying extreme amounts for. After paying for those monthly items, he was left with little or no money for food.
Cpl. Ragulsky was able to assist the man in returning several items and through his own personal contacts, secure him a bed that someone was getting rid of. He also looked for other areas of assistance for the man and was able to get him in contact with the Department of Social Services for further assistance. He was also able to get the man set up on a payment plan for his lights and gas to make things easier for him.
The male was able to get a new insurance card and was assisted in getting a Dr.’s appointment scheduled, in which Cpl. Ragulsky will be attending with him.
Cpl. Ragulsky has even met with the man on one of his days off to write out for him what he should be spending on things.
Cpl. Ragulsky is to be commended for his actions and outstanding representation of a Pueblo Police officer. We commend you for your efforts and are proud of your actions.
