Arrests Made After Investigation of Fatal Drive-By Shooting, Homicide of Michael Suazo
Pueblo, CO—The Pueblo Police Department, in coordination with the U.S. Marshals’ Colorado Violent Offender Task Force, arrested a 15-year-old male in connection with the drive-by shooting death of 19-year-old Michael Suazo on April 6, 2025. Officers also arrested 24-year-old Caitlyn Gonzales on several charges related to Suazo’s homicide. Suazo’s death is recorded as Pueblo’s third homicide in 2025.
During the investigation, law enforcement gathered sufficient evidence to obtain arrest warrants for both the 15-year-old male suspect and Gonzales. On May 20, 2025, at approximately 4:45 PM, the Colorado Violent Offender Task Force located both suspects. When officers attempted to make a traffic stop, the vehicle failed to yield and fled north on Interstate 25 towards the City of Fountain. The Fountain Police Department was able to disable the vehicle, and both suspects were taken into custody and transported back to Pueblo. The teen was taken to Pueblo Youth Corrections, where he was booked on warrants for First-Degree Murder after Deliberation and violating juvenile parole. Gonzales was booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center on felony charges of Accessory to a Crime and Tampering with Physical Evidence, as well as a misdemeanor for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
Several law enforcement agencies involved in the Colorado Violent Offender Task Force collaborated to safely apprehend these suspects. These agencies included the U.S. Marshals Service, Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, Fountain Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, Colorado Department of Corrections, and the Colorado Bureau of Investigations.

Fatal Drive-By Shooting
Pueblo, CO― On April 6, 2025, at approximately 5:14 p.m., Pueblo Police responded to the area of N. Hudson Ave and Highway 50 E Bypass in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived, a 19-year-old male was located in a vehicle in the 2000 block of N. Hudson Ave. with gunshot wounds and pronounced deceased. Two additional occupants were evaluated for minor injuries.
The investigation is in the beginning stages; however, it is believed that shots were fired in the intersection of N. Hudson Ave. and Highway 50 E Bypass. There were many community members present around the intersection at the time the shooting occurred. Most of those witnesses left before police arrived on scene. A description of additional suspect(s) and a suspect vehicle is being developed. The Pueblo Police Department is asking any witnesses that were present at the time of this incident or have information to contact Detective Hector Herrera at 719-601-7023 or contact Crimestoppers at 719-542-STOP to remain anonymous.
This is an active and ongoing investigation, and updates will be provided to the public as more information becomes available. This marks the City’s third homicide in 2025. The Pueblo County Coroner will identify the deceased suspect after appropriate notifications.
