On March 4, 2024, at approximately 3:18 a.m., Pueblo Police responded to Interstate 25 southbound near mile marker 96 on a report of a motorcycle and person in the roadway. Police located an adult male and a moped in the roadway.
The victim was declared deceased on scene. Pueblo Police had limited information but believed the victim was struck from behind by another vehicle. Pueblo Police Traffic and Crime Scene Investigation units are investigating this death as a traffic fatality. The investigation is still on going.
While Traffic and Crime Scene Investigation units were continuing to investigate the first accident, at approximately 7:48 a.m. officers were dispatched to a separate collision involving a pickup truck hitting the back of a semi-truck on Interstate 25 southbound just after the McCulley Avenue (97A) exit, just north of the first accident. When officers arrived, they found the passenger was trapped inside the vehicle, life saving measures were attempted but the victim, a juvenile female was pronounced deceased on scene.
The victims in these incidents will be identified by the Pueblo County Coroner after appropriate notifications. The Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death. These are the 1st and 2nd traffic fatalities in the City of Pueblo for 2024.
