PRESS RELEASE
On 062112 at 2347 hours the Pueblo Police responded to the 1300 Block of E. Routt in regard to shots fired. When Officers arrived they found that two victims had been shot. Both victims were transported by private vehicles to each of the hospitals in town.
When Officer arrived at St. Mary Corwin they were informed that a 22 year old male victim had succumbed to the injuries he received and was deceased. The other was taken to Parkview who had injuries that the hospital related was not life threatening at this time.
According to witness statements there had been a large gathering at 1331 E. Routt where an argument between two groups started and ended up in a fight in the street in front of the address which ultimately ended up in shots being fired and causing the injuries to both victims. No arrests at this point in time. Investigation is on going at this time. Names of the victims will be released once the family has time to notify other family members.

The Pueblo Police Department has identified the victim of the homicide as 22 year old Caleb Cosby. A second victim identified as 28 year old Shannon Charter who is recovering from multiple gunshot wounds. The investigation is on going and numerous interviews have been conducted. A suspect has been developed and identified. The suspect has been identified as Jerid Lee Salazar DOB: 06-14-93. Salazar is described as being a Hispanic male, 6’0 tall, 170 pounds, brown hair, and Hazel eyes. An arrest warrant has been issued for Salazar for First Degree Murder. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Pueblo Police Department at 553-2502 or Call Pueblo Crimestoppers at 542-Stop (542-7867). During the investigation the first name of “JOSE “was revealed as a comrade of Salazar and was reported as being with him when the homicide occurred. At this point in time he is a person of interest and The Pueblo Police Department would ask anyone who knows the identity of this party to call the Police with any information in regard to “JOSE’S” information and location. The Pueblo Police would appreciate any help the community can muster in regard to this incident.
