So far this year, the city of Pueblo has experienced 429 Auto Thefts. For the month of October the Police Department has handled 38 Auto Thefts. Approximately 5% of those have been from people leaving their running cars unattended.
Based on previous years, we will continue to see this number rise as the temperatures get colder. Historically, the rate of these types of thefts increase from October through February.
Try not to leave your vehicle unattended when you are warming it up in the mornings.
Lock your car doors whenever possible (use your remote or purchase an extra key) and
watch your vehicle closely.
Criminals are opportunists. Don't hand your car over to them.
Help us reduce the number of Auto Thefts this coming winter season.
