
Carjacking Investigation Leads to Arrest of Suspect Who Was on Parole
On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at approximately 11:58 A.M., Pueblo Police Responded to the 1700 block of Moore Avenue on a report of a carjacking in progress and fight. While enroute to the call, officers were told 42-year-old Denise Lee carjacked a vehicle, and while fleeing the scene, ran over a person.
At approximately 12:01 P.M. an officer located the carjacked vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Elmwood Drive and South Pueblo Boulevard. After a struggle involving several officers, Lee was taken into custody.
The person who had been run over was transported to a local hospital where they were treated for undisclosed injuries.
Lee was booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center for First Degree Motor Vehicle Theft, Robbery, Second Degree Assault on a Peace Officer (multiple counts), Vehicular Assault, Assault in the Third Degree, Violation of a Restraining Order, and Driving Under Restraint.
Lee was on parole at the time of the incident, after being convicted and sentenced to the Department of Corrections for three years in November 2022, for the crime of Leaving the Scene of an Accident involving Serious Bodily Injury.
