Community and Stakeholder Involvement
A number of techniques will be used to engage and provide opportunities for the community, public and stakeholders to direct and affect the outcome of the effort. This project is a community grass roots effort. The planning process will be a facilitation effort to help the community capture and define their vision and plans for the east-side Greenway. THK will work with the Funding Partners in a facilitation effort that will include the following:
Project Steering Committee
A Project Steering Committee will be developed to direct the planning effort. This committee will meet monthly for the life of the project. The Lower Arkansas Valley Water Conservancy District will host these meetings. This committee will include:
- Residents
- East-side Commission Representatives
- East-side Coalition Representative
- Fountain Creek Foundation Representative
- Pueblo Planning Department Representative
- Lower Arkansas Valley Water Conservancy District Representative
- Colorado Springs Utilities Representative
- Pueblo Flood Plain Administrator
- Pueblo Parks Department Representative
- Planning Consultant
Public Workshops
There are at least 4 public workshops anticipated during this planning effort. THK will assist the Fountain Creek Foundation in facilitating these workshops on behalf of the Steering Committee. These workshops will include:
- Workshop #1 - Develop and refine project vision by capturing community issues and opportunities
- Workshop #2 - Develop project objectives and criteria for evaluation
- Workshop #3 - Develop strategies and concepts for the project
- Workshop #4 - Refine preferred project concepts and strategies
