The School Resource Officer Unit was composed of one sergeant and ten officers and is responsible for the safety and law enforcement needs of thirty schools throughout the city of Pueblo. There was one School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to each of the four high schools, one assigned to each of the seven middle schools, and each SRO also oversees two elementary schools. The SRO Unit works in conjunction with Pueblo City Schools personnel to continue refining a Safety Crisis Plan and is active and visible in their schools as they operate as a resource to both staff and students..
Additionally, the SRO unit is also responsible on-going crime prevention efforts within the schools and the neighborhoods they serve, law enforcement functions within each of their assigned schools, and for the operation of the Pueblo Police Explorer Program.
