STORMWATER IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
BOULDER OUTFALL - LINCOLN ST. & ABRIENDO AVE. INTERSECTION STORMWATER IMPROVEMENTS
This intersection has an undersized storm sewer system that results in frequent flooding from moderate storm events. The project will consist of replacing the existing undersized storm sewer system with a larger capacity storm system in W. Abriendo Avenue from Lincoln Street to the storm system outfall at the Arkansas River along Boulder Avenue. Improvements will help mitigate frequent flooding events in this area and will include approximately 1,650 LF of 60” storm sewer, installation of new manholes, inlets, laterals, water quality and open channel improvements.
29TH STREET PHASE 1 & PHASE 2 STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENTS
This project consists of installing new drainage improvements in West 29th St. between Adrian Ave. & Franklin Ave. and also channel improvements along Alabama Ave. between 23rd St. & 29th St. Currently, flooding causes erosion of private property. The proposed improvements will alleviate current flooding problems in this area and thus improve water quality.

SUMMIT AVENUE OUTFALL - STORMWATER REPLACEMENT
This area has experienced significant flooding over the years. The existing Stormwater system lacks the capacity to handle even a small rain event, and property has been damaged due to the undersized Stormwater System. The flooding has often occured during the Colorado State Fair event and affects travel around the fairgrounds. The project will include a detailed drainage analysis and Stormwater upgrades that will be accomplished in at least 3 phases.
Phase 1: Will include a detailed drainage analysis and Stormwater upgrades on outfall and Washington Street.
Phase 2: Will include Stormwater upgrades on Routt Avenue and Madison Street.
Phase 3: Will include Stormwater upgrades on Summit Avenue up to the Colorado State Fairgrounds.
Illinois Avenue Storm System Upgrade
This area has experienced significant flooding over the years due to an undersized Stormwater system. This is one of the most frequently complained about areas that routinely requires the time and resources of the Stormwater Maintenance Crew. The upgrade project will consist of replacing the entire existing Stormwater system along Illinois Ave. from Poplar St. to Lakeshore Dr. Approximately 1,100 LF of mainline pipeline will be increased in size (10" to 24") with additional inlets if needed. Also, all pavement, curb and gutter that is removed will be replaced.
29TH STREET PUMP STATION REPLACEMENT
An existing pump station that serves to remove storm runoff that collects at a low point near the intersection of I-25 and 29th St. has failed on several occasions and poses a public safety concern. Improvements will include constructing a new pump station in an area away from the low point location to improve capacity, public safety, and maintenance issues. The existing wet well will be converted into an oil/grit separator to help enhance water quality.
