PUEBLO—Pueblo Transit invites the public to attend an open house on Wednesday, Feb. 25 about the transition to a hybrid fleet and a new state-of-the-art transit facility. The open house will take place in the Community Room of the Barkman Branch Library located at 1300 Jerry Murphy Rd.
“Pueblo Transit recently received the largest grant award of $19.5 million combined from the U.S. Department of Transportation and from CDOT,” said Director of Pueblo Transit Ben Valdez. “This grant award is allowing us to transition our fleet to an entirely hybrid operation. With that transition also comes the long-term need of a new facility.”
The transition from the current majority diesel buses in Pueblo Transit’s fleet to an entirely hybrid fleet will help lower emissions and improve public health. Additionally, Pueblo Transit plans to move to a new transit facility site for much needed upgrades, additional space and to accommodate this hybrid fleet transition.
Residents are invited to Pueblo Transit’s open house on Feb. 25 from 5:30-7:00 pm at the Barkman Branch Library where they can learn more about the largest federal grant received by the City of Pueblo, ask questions from zero-emissions experts for the new hybrid buses, and find out about Pueblo Transit’s future transit facility.
