The Traffic Division, in cooperation with the Planning and Community Development Department, is developing a plan that analyzes and recommends realistic changes to the circulation patterns and enhancements to “walkability” within the downtown.
The plan will build upon the central downtown framework plan and Downtown Development Implementation Strategy Plan that has guided the numerous downtown improvements during the past two decades. The plan will address traffic flow patterns including the potential of a 4th / 5th one-way pair, walkable linkages between key civic and business areas, on-street and off-street parking, parallel vs. angle parking assessment, as well as urban design and place making.
A critical element is the active role of residents and businesses within the downtown in defining the vision for the master plan. Key project stakeholders are the property owners, the Pueblo City Center Partnership, Downtown Association, Pueblo Active Community Environments, city staff, the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council.
The project will begin in April and be completed by December 2011.
