The City of Pueblo has begun the process of auctioning vacant property liens through the Purchasing Department. All notices of the properties available for auction are published in The Pueblo Chieftain no less than 30 days prior to the auction. The process takes place on the Public Surplus website and the public is able to view individual auction pages for each property lien. The City’s intent to sell these liens at auction is to the highest bidder and the auction will remain open for seven days.
Any buyer or assignee of the lien may subsequently collect the debt secure by such lien, including interest and costs of collection, in any manner that was able to be done by the City in their own name. This is subject to all claims and defenses and subject to the limitations and requirements of Title VII of the Pueblo Municipal Code.
Additional information is available regarding the process of the purchase process including the assignment of lien form, terms and conditions and the standard disclaimer. Information pertaining to the unique vacant property liens is available through the Public Surplus website.
