Pueblo Transit is excited to announce a new partnership with CSU-P aimed at improving public transit access for students and staff. This collaboration will introduce a dedicated transit bus stop near the student residence hall, ensuring a convenient transportation option.
The new bus stop is set to open in early March and will be serviced by the # 9 University route. The university will provide as direct connection with the North Shopping Route and various other routes, making it easier for students to commute to local community events, shopping, and restaurants nearby. The new University stop will change the direction of the current University route and will no longer provide service west on Montebello Rd. However, we are committed to maintaining service to the area through the # 10 Belmont route providing service eastbound on Montebello Rd., ensuring that all users continue to have reliable transportation options. With the discontinuation of service west on Montebello the University Route will provide new service options for the users located on Bonnymede Rd. and Douglas Ln while still servicing Pueblo Health Solutions on Montebello Rd.
This initiative reflects Pueblo Transits commitment to promote sustainable transportation while reducing carbon emissions and enhancing the overall campus experience.
Pueblo Transit Announces Vanpool Program to Encourage Shared Rides and Expand Commuting Options in City of Pueblo
PUEBLO—As commuters look for convenient and affordable transportation options, Pueblo Transit announces a new service offering. In partnership with Commute with Enterprise, Pueblo Transit is helping commuters through an innovative and sustainable transportation solution, vanpooling.
Pueblo Transit is offering funding to further reduce the expenses of this already cost-efficient form of commuting. Pueblo Transit received grant funding from Colorado Department of Transportation Multi-Modal Option Program Funds to operate the vanpool program through December 31, 2026.
“This is an exciting opportunity for Pueblo Transit to expand our footprint offering vanpool commuting options for the business community. This is a new offering of transportation outside of our fixed route transit and Citi-Lift services we currently provide,” said Director of Pueblo Transit Ben Valdez. “In 2024 and looking ahead this year, we have continually looked for ways to better serve our community and we know this vanpool and commuter option will greatly enhance the airport industrial park, the business community and how the workforce utilizes Pueblo Transit for their needs.”
Participants can choose a qualifying vanpool vehicle from a selection of Commute with Enterprise makes and models, including crossovers, SUVs, minivans and large passenger vans. Each vanpool rider pays a portion of the total cost, which covers all expenses such as gas, insurance, maintenance and repairs. Commute with Enterprise also provides 24-hour roadside assistance.
Commuters in the Pueblo area interested in joining the vanpool program, can visit www.commutewithenterprise.com or call Pueblo Transit 719-553-2725 for more information.
