Thanks to some better than expected weather and the hard work of city Wastewater and Parks Department employees, the dog park located in City Park will be reopening a couple of days ahead of schedule.
“The Bark at the Park” was closed January 12 to allow or the installation of new sewer lines for a bathroom on the park’s east side.
According to Brad Bixler, Interim Parks and Contracts Manager, construction moved along even more quickly than hoped, and the dog park opened today rather than Saturday. Bixler cited for special praise Bruce Maurello, Dennis Wells, and Sonia Mondragon as well as the rest of the wastewater crew as well as Joe Pantaleo, Charlie Carlino and Lee Cartensen of the Parks Division for help in completing the project early.
The bathroom project consists of two phases. The first was the now completed installation of the sewer lines. The second phase will be the actual installation of the bathroom. The start date for the second phase has not been set.
