Street Racing Leads to Accident, Injuries, Property Damage and Arrest

Police Department Posted on April 08, 2025

News Release, Contact: Bianca Hicks, PIO, community engagement manager, 719-553-2517

On April 6, 2025, at approximately 12:20 A.M., officers conducting speed enforcement in the 3200 block of Pueblo Blvd. observed three vehicles racing westbound. Shortly after, one of vehicles exited the roadway and crashed into a residence on Elmwood Circle causing significant damage to the front of the home.

Upon arrival, officers found two females inside the vehicle, with Jaiden Maes, 18, in the driver's seat. As officers awaited the arrival of fire personnel, the engine caught fire and officers worked quickly to safely remove the occupants. Both were transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The passenger sustained several serious, however non-life threatening, injuries. The driver did not sustain serious injuries and was subsequently taken to the Pueblo County Detention Center. She was arrested and charged with Vehicular Reckless Assault, Operating an Uninsured Vehicle, Driving Without a Valid License, and Displaying an Expired Number Plate.

Pueblo Police would like to remind the public of the serious danger of speeding and street racing; not only to the drivers and occupants of the vehicles involved, but also to community members and their property. #drivesafe
