PUEBLO—The City of Pueblo will soon begin construction on the 4th Street Trailhead. The trailhead will be closed intermittently to the public during the construction period.
The 4th Street Trailhead is also known as Pillar Park Parking Lot. The construction project will improve the trailhead's parking lot, providing a more enjoyable experience for trail users. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
The 4th Street Trailhead is a popular access point for the Arkansas River Trail system, which offers hikers and bikers a variety of urban scenic routes. During the construction period, trail users can access the trail system from the City Park Trailhead or at Union Avenue and Corona Avenue. The actual trail will not be affected, just the access point at 4th Street during construction.
"We understand that the trail is an important part of the community and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve the 4th Street Trailhead," said Parks and Recreation Director, Steven Meier.
This project is just one step in the right direction to make the area more enjoyable and easier accessible for all. The Parks and Recreation Department is committed to improving and maintaining the trail system and looks forward to continued improvements in the future.
