New Pedestrian Bridge Installation Calls for Temporary Closure of Arkansas River Trail
PUEBLO—The City of Pueblo Parks and Recreation Department has issued a temporary closure of a section of the north and south side of the Arkansas River Trail for the installation of another pedestrian suspension bridge. The closure of the trail is approximately one mile distance on both sides of the river.
The Arkansas River Trail will be closed from the Main St. bridge to Runyon Lake on the north side and on the south side from Main St. bridge to the Moffat St. trailhead access point. Closure for the trail begins Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, for construction and installation of the new pedestrian suspension bridge. The trailhead access point at the Main St. bridge will also be closed due to construction.
“We are excited about the second pedestrian bridge being installed over the Arkansas River,” said Director of Pueblo Parks and Recreation Steven Meier. “It will be a twin to the first bridge located upstream and provide a nice loop on the levee and trail for the community to enjoy,” said Meier.
The Parks and Recreation Department is anticipating the reopening of the trail after the bridge installation is completed which is scheduled at the beginning of January 2023. Pueblo Parks and Recreation will also update the public of any additional information necessary during the closure of the trail as it become available.
