PUEBLO – Mayor Nick Gradisar issued the following statement in celebration of Veterans Day:
On this eleventh hour, on the eleventh day, on the eleventh month -- we come together as one city to honor the men and woman who proudly served in our armed forces. We remember the fallen. And we honor those Puebloans currently stationed far from home and family, as well as those serving their home in the National Guard.
As the Home of Heroes, we recognize and understand the sacrifice and duty of our veterans to protect the fundamental ideals of American Democracy abroad, across our nation and inside our proud city.
While this year, our city may not be able to celebrate with the same fervor or public gatherings, I call on our city to join me on this moment on this Veterans Day to remember and honor our veterans here at home and beyond.
In the words of President Theodore Roosevelt, let us remember that these men and women did ‘not shrink from danger, from hardship, or from bitter toil’ -- these veterans served to protect the American cause of freedom, peace and liberty and for that Pueblo is forever grateful. Thank you and God Bless our veterans.”
