The City of Pueblo would like the public to chime in on what it would like in a park planned for the city’s east side. With that in mind, the City Planning and Community Development Department is holding a public meeting next Thursday, February 9, asking for input on the Plaza Verde Park. Plaza Verde Park will be located at the southwest corner of Ash and Hudson.
The meeting will be held at the Fountain Elementary School gymnasium at 916 N. Fountain Avenue. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. and should wrap up around 7 p.m.
Last June, the City of Pueblo was awarded a Great Outdoors Colorado Grant for a Trail-head Project within Plaza Verde Park. The project consists of two small plazas, a possible scenic overlook, and trash and recycling receptacles. Plans also call for a trail connection between the park and the existing eight-foot trail that runs along the east bank of the Fountain Creek.
The City Park and Recreation and Planning Departments are seeking input from interested citizens regarding the placement of the Trail-head as well as preferred park amenities that can be planned for future phases of the park’s redevelopment.
This Project is part of the ongoing efforts of the Historic East Side Greenway Master Plan.
