Cases of Interest
This webpage was created to share information regarding cases of interest or critical incident briefings of cases that occur in the City of Pueblo with the goal of providing timely and transparent communication. In addition, there are links to Pueblo Police Department's policies and procedures when responding to such incidents.
Technology, such as body-worn cameras (BWC), gives the police department a unique opportunity to allow the community to see what happened during a particular incident for themselves. Though video footage is important, no camera will ever capture all aspects of a critical incident.
Pursuant to Colorado State Law and department policy, when some critical incidents occur the Tenth Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) which includes members of the Colorado Bureau of Investigations, Colorado State Patrol, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, and the Pueblo Police Department is activated. The members of the CIRT who are not the agency involved in the critical incident conduct the investigation. Once the investigation is completed, it is then forwarded to the Tenth Judicial District, District Attorney’s Office, for determination on whether the officer’s use of force complied with Colorado Law. Critical Incident Team decisions.
It is important to note that, sometimes, due to the investigation of these incidents and in order not to compromise or jeopardize the integrity of an ongoing investigation or any potential prosecution, the Pueblo Police Department may not be able to release details about a critical incident as quickly as the public might like.
All cases are redacted in accordance with the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act. The information from any cases posted here may not be used to harass, intimidate, or seek retribution on any party listed in the case.
