MOTORISTS CAUTIONED TO ‘YIELD TO BUSES’

IT'S THE LAW COLORADO STATUTE 42-4-713 YEILD TO BUS WHEN BUS RETURNS TO FLOW OF TRAFFIC

In an effort to enhance traffic flow, improve transit reliability, and make roads safer for everyone, Colorado in 2009 passed the “Yield to Bus” Law. House Bill 1027 says that motorists must yield the right–of-way to transit buses merging into traffic from a bus stop.

Pueblo Transit has joined many transit agencies across the state to implement the “Yield to Bus” law, as a way to improve the merging of buses into traffic in the City of Pueblo.

All Pueblo Transit buses have been labeled with a bright yellow, red and black sign that reads “IT’S THE LAW, YIELD TO BUS”. The sign is on the back of the buses, above the left turning light.

“We have launched this campaign to educate drivers so they know to allow a transit bus to enter traffic from a bus stop. This is a safety measure not only for transit drivers and bus passengers but for also for the safety of all drivers on the road,” said Director of Transit, Brenda Broyles.
