Over 30 Mayors and City Officials Hosted for Fourth Annual Mayor’s Day at Colorado State Fair

PUEBLO—Mayor of Pueblo Nick Gradisar hosted more than 30 mayors and top city officials from across the state of Colorado on Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Colorado State Fair for the fourth annual Mayor’s Day.

“This is the fourth annual event, where I host mayors and top city officials like city manager or council presidents from across the state of Colorado,” said Mayor of Pueblo Nick Gradisar. “Each year I host as an opportunity for many of these officials and their families to experience the Colorado State Fair for the first time.”

Mayor Gradisar invites the Colorado State Fair Board of Directors and presenting sponsor Black Hill Energy to attend and share a few words with the city officials of Colorado. A group of a dozen students in the Central High School Jazz Band provided pre-event entertainment and music for visitors to enjoy.

“Mayor’s Day is a great network to share our experience as mayors and then showcase our rich agriculture, heritage and the entertainment offered at the Colorado State Fair,” said Gradisar.

Each year Mayor Gradisar hosts the catered lunch, showcases different local entertainment and asks Pueblo Food Project to showcase local cuisine for Mayor’s Day lunch. At the conclusion of the event, mayors and city officials are then invited to enjoy the remainder of the day on the Colorado State Fairgrounds.

Pueblo Food Project coordinates with Jim Beatty and Steve Montiel of Classic Catering for the lunch which is prepared as a farm to table meal. Pueblo Food Project sources all food from Pueblo County to showcase the high quality and proud agricultural roots of Pueblo, which is not only the cornerstone of their mission, but a main theme of the Colorado State Fair.
