PUEBLO—The City of Pueblo continues to repair and maintain streets across the city as part of a $10 million road repair initiative. The Public Works Department will be repaving Northern Avenue between Vinewood Lane and Prairie Avenue starting on Monday, Oct. 31. The project includes pavement milling, a new asphalt overlay and striping work that is expected to last approximately two weeks.
During construction, individual lane closures should be expected, but at least one lane of Northern Avenue will remain open in each direction at all times. Access to and from Northern Avenue at cross streets and driveways between Vinewood Lane and Prairie Avenue will be temporarily impacted while active work takes place at those locations. Drivers are asked to be mindful of construction-related hazards including changing lane alignments, heavy equipment operations, and workers in the roadway.
"We recognize that any road project in the City impacts our residents, but these temporary inconveniences will allow us to keep our streets in good condition for years to come,” said Andrew Hayes, the City’s Director of Public Works. “Northern Avenue, in particular, is a major transportation artery through the southwest corner of the City. We appreciate drivers’ extra caution and patience during the project to ensure the safety of everyone in the roadway.”
