City of Pueblo Concludes Independent Auditor’s 2021 Report

PUEBLO—The City of Pueblo recently received the final report of the financial statements for the 2021 fiscal year from the independent accounting firm RubinBrown LLP.

“We are pleased to receive the unmodified audit report,” said Mayor of Pueblo Nick Gradisar. “RubinBrown worked well with our Finance Department and I’m continually proud of the financial stability and responsibility executed by the City of Pueblo.”

RubinBrown gave feedback of an unmodified report, meaning the financial statements audited were prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

“There were not significant unusual transactions identified as a result of our audit procedures that were brought to the attention of management,” said RubinBrown LLP in the Auditor’s Communications presented to Mayor Gradisar and members of City Council on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

RubinBrown suggested changes to the city reporting policies and end of year reviews which the city adopted.

RubinBrown expressed no concern with the City’s ability to apply for federal funding in the future with the new policy and protocol recommendations for financial reporting and designated the City as low-risk. As a result of the findings and report given at the City Council Work Session on Tuesday, Oct. 11 the City Council voted 5-0 against the resolution proposed by President of City Council Heather Graham last spring to conduct a forensic audit of the City’s finances.
