PUEBLO – The wind storm that hit Pueblo on December 15th resulted in several neighborhoods on the south and west sides of the City being inundated with tumbleweeds. City of Pueblo Public Works Department will be assisting residents in affected neighborhoods to dispose of the nuisance tumbleweeds over the next several days. Work has already started and cleanup efforts will continue until all affected streets have been cleared.
A webpage with answers to frequently asked questions and an online interactive map showing the progress of cleanup efforts has been established. That site can be accessed at https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/a7b490ffe1b245b39fe8668b6b6d5bdb.
Residents in the affected areas are asked to stack their tumbleweeds in the street along the curb. Please maintain a safe travel lane for vehicles to pass. Tumbleweeds requiring disposal should be in the street by the end of the day today and crews will get to each site as quickly as possible. Please note that Public Works crews cannot come onto private property to remove tumbleweeds.
During this cleanup, tumbleweeds will be the only type of waste accepted for disposal. No other materials including yard waste, lumber, building materials, household trash, or other waste streams will be accepted. Tumbleweeds should not be bagged.
