PUEBLO – The City of Pueblo is hosting a final public meeting to share the proposed master plan design for Union Avenue and Main Street on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, from 5-7pm which will be held virtually. This project was made possible by the 2016 Pueblo County 1A Fund for Pedestrian, Parking and Streetscape improvements. These two separate but integrated corridors are in Central Pueblo and are considered together to create a unified approach to the area. The project will capitalize on the potential for mutual design and benefits.
This master planning initiative considered the following elements for the Union Avenue and Main Street corridors:
- Walkability and Bikeability
- Complete Streets
- Streetscape
- Placemaking
- Traffic Flow and Patterns
- Parking
Throughout this process, the City has met with and collaborated with the public, local business owners, and corridor users of all kinds. “I am encouraged by the proposed plan, I do believe that increased pedestrian traffic will benefit the community as a whole,” said an anonymous participant in one of the focus groups. The project team has transitioned those ideas into a list of proposed priority sub-projects that will be shared during the meeting with recommendations on which will be implemented before the 2021 project deadline.
