A local woman with a long history of service in local and state education, finance, and recreation is Mayor Nick Gradisar’ s new Chief of Staff. The Mayor has tabbed Laura Solano for the new City Government position on Friday. She will take over duties the week of May 1st.
Solano is a Pueblo native whose resume shows experience with the Colorado Department of Revenue, Pueblo Community College and CSU-Pueblo. She has also worked with the Colorado State Fair.
Mayor Gradisar received 35 applications for the job once the position was approved by the Pueblo City Council. The Mayor says many of the applications had impressive credentials, but he and an advisory committee examined all the submissions and felt Solano was the best choice.
“I am very pleased with the selection of Laura Solano as Chief of Staff,” Gradisar says. “We want to accomplish a lot for the city of Pueblo, and she will play a key part.”
Another native Puebloan has also been chosen to fill the position of Director of Finance. Charles Hernandez will take over his new position, also the week of May 1st. He most recently was Chief Financial Analyst at the Colorado Public Utilities Commission. He also has experience in financial issues dealing with energy and utilities.
And finally, Mayor Gradisar has promoted Bryan Gallagher to Director of the city Department of Housing and Community Services. He has been serving as Interim Director for the past year since the resignation of former Director Ada Clark.
