YOUR INPUT MATTERS!You are invited to a public workshop regarding the Get Outdoors Pueblo initiative.
The State of Colorado, through the Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) Inspire Initiative, aims to connect youth and their families with the outdoors. For the State’s quality of life to endure, Coloradans must appreciate and care for our great outdoors, and it is hard to fully appreciate what we don’t experience. This is why GOCO and its partners are establishing places for kids and their families to play and connect with the outdoors, programs that activate those places, and pathways to outdoor stewardship and leadership roles.
The City of Pueblo is the recipient of a GOCO Inspire Grant and has a local program called Get Outdoors Pueblo (GO Pueblo). The GO Pueblo program is being supported by a number of organizations in the area, including: the US Forest Service, Pueblo City Schools, Nature and Raptor Center, Pueblo Zoo, Boys and Girls Clubs, the Mountain Park Environmental Center, and Colorado State University, Pueblo.
The GO Pueblo program will be reaching out to the youth population in the East Side and Bessemer neighborhoods of Pueblo to understand the activities and facilities they enjoy in the outdoors and how to make outdoor activities easier to access and use. During February and March, youth workshops will be held at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Pueblo County.
To kick-off the community involvement in this program, we will be holding workshops for interested members of the community to find out more about this program and the youth activities that are planned. Everyone is welcome to come and learn more about this program and provide input on getting youth into the great outdoors.
