COACHES

Volunteer to Become a Youth Sports Coach

Do you want to be a mentor to children in our community, become a volunteer coach! Pueblo Parks and Recreation Youth Sports would be unable to operate without volunteer coaches. Pueblo Parks and Recreation is seeking volunteer coaches for all youth sports programs.

All volunteer coaches must be a minimum of 18 years old. All coaches must turn in a background check, volunteer contract, coach certification test and concussion test and must be approved by Pueblo Parks and Recreation. All coaches will be notified by email/phone call if selected to be a coach and all coaches must attend a coaches meeting. All coaches that volunteer for a full season will receive one FREE program registration fee for each head coach and half off one program registration fee for assistant coaches! 

Volunteer Youth Sport Coaches are a valuable asset to the Pueblo Parks and Recreation Youth Sports Division. These individuals demonstrate a selfless concern for the community as evidenced by their willingness to give of their time to help area children.

Leagues

The Pueblo Parks and Recreation Youth Sports Division offers youth athletic leagues (Winter Basketball, T-Ball, Coach Pitch, Flag Football and Summer Basketball at the Slabs) throughout the year.

Paperwork

The Youth Sports Division staff will attempt to obtain a clear understanding of each potential coach’s background, in an effort to place them in a volunteer position that best utilizes their experience. As well as provides for the safety and skill development of the city’s program participants. Therefore, before a potential coach is permitted to participate in any of our youth leagues/programs, he/she is required to complete a coaching contract every season, coaching packet and pass a background check. Other Information 

Teams will not be assigned until all paperwork is submitted and approved. 

The successful completion of these items is does not guarantee that any individual will be designated a coach in the Pueblo Parks and Recreation Department Youth Sport Division. All current Head Coaches, potential Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches are reminded that coaching Youth Sports is a “Privilege and Not a Right.”
