Jr. Lifeguard Class

This American Red Cross class is for anyone interested in learning the skills to become a certified lifeguard but is not of age to take the Lifeguarding class. After completion of the program, you will be certified with CPR/AED/first-aid for the professional rescuer. You will be able to shadow a knowable lifeguard during their shift to learn all the necessary skills to becoming a certified lifeguard.

Pre-requisites: must be 14 years old by Monday June 12, 2023. Must be able to swim 25 meters of front crawl, 25 meters of breaststroke, tread water for 1 minute, and complete the water competency sequence. Participant will receive 30 hours of instruction to include, water safety skills, a Jr. lifeguard shirt, and a hat/visor. After completion, participants can volunteer to shadow an experienced guard for up to 10 hours per week. Participants will also receive a credit for future lifeguarding class with Pueblo Parks and Recreation when they reach appropriate age.
