Streetscape Project at City Center Dr and Santa Fe
Streetscape Project at City Center Drive and Santa Fe Avenue
The City of Pueblo’s City Center Drive and Santa Fe Avenue streetscape project will focus on aesthetic improvements to the east side of Santa Fe Avenue by enhancing and improving the streetscape of the main intersection in Downtown Pueblo. Studies have found that aesthetic improvements are the single most important way to increase pedestrian use (an average of a 70% increase).
The intersection of City Center Drive and Santa Fe Avenue provides access into Pueblo’s downtown business district, which includes the Sangre de Cristo Art Center, Pueblo Convention Center, Historic Arkansas Riverwalk Project (HARP), Union Avenue Historic District and El Pueblo History Museum.
The construction contract was awarded to HPM Contracting of Englewood, Colorado.
Construction activities are scheduled to begin on June 1 and expected to last until September 30, 2021.
Normal working hours will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. No work is expected on major holidays or during overnight hours. The work schedule is subject to change based on weather or unforeseen circumstances.
Motorists can expect flagger operations, speed reductions, alternating single-lane traffic and short delays. Lane reduction times and dates may fluctuate, and alternate routes are suggested during construction work hours.
Pedestrians will be detoured to sidewalks outside of the construction zone.
