Postponment Ice Cup

We regret to inform our community that the Police vs. Fire Ice Cup charity hockey game will be postponed. The game was scheduled for Saturday November 14th, but due to increasing COVID-19 cases and public gathering restrictions we have decided to postpone the event.

This hockey game has been a very well-supported community event since its inception in 2016. Funds generated from the game have cumulatively exceeded $50,000 and have supported various youth-related programs. Two of these programs have been the Pueblo Police Explorers and Pueblo Tigers Youth Hockey. The main program, however, has been the annual Heroes and Helpers charity event. Heroes and Helpers provides an opportunity for local law enforcement officers to accompany underprivileged children on a Christmas shopping trip that is primarily funded by Ice Cup proceeds. Funds raised in last year’s game allowed us to take 60 local kids shopping.

During a time in which the pandemic has forced us to postpone our main fundraising mechanism (the Ice Cup), the challenges of 2020 have likewise presented a much greater need than ever to help the underprivileged youth in our community. If you wish to back us in helping our local children, please consider supporting our virtual silent auction. The silent auction will be posted and shared soon on the Pueblo Police Department Facebook page, Ice Cup webpage (www.icecup.us), and the Pueblo Police Benevolent Association (our charitable foundation) Facebook page. Your support will help make Christmas a little brighter for several kids in our community who need us.

Once again, we apologize to our amazing fanbase, community members and sponsors for this postponement, but we are determined to reschedule this great event when decreasing COVID-19 cases and lightened restrictions allow us to move forward.

Sincerely,
The Pueblo Police and Fire Hockey Teams.

Despite the postponement of the 5th annual Ice Cup (Police vs. Fire hockey game) we are still determined to help the less fortunate youth of our community. Please support our online auction which starts today, Sunday November 15th through November 29th at www.bid345.com . There are several great items including Colorado Avalanche autographs, gift baskets, and much more!

The main fundraising effort the Ice Cup supports is our annual Heroes and Helpers event. This program in 2019 took over 60 kids on a shopping spree with local law enforcement officers who volunteer their time prior to Christmas.

Ice Cup also assists with our ongoing proactive positive community policing efforts. For many children, parents, and families involved, this positive interaction with our local heroes goes a long way where trust and good relations can be established and built upon.

A Silent Auction will also be taking place (online) to benefit the Pueblo Police Explorer program. Please follow our Facebook event page Ice Cup 2020 for further information coming soon!
