Best Practice: Used Needle Disposal

CDC recommends using puncture-proof gloves, or pliers or tongs to pick up used needles. The needles should be placed in a ‘sharps’ container (one that is designed for needle disposal) or other puncture-proof container.


Thoroughly wash/sanitize hands after handling. If a needle ‘stick’ occurs, get to a medical professional immediately for possible disease-preventative treatment.
