The Pueblo Fire Department, in cooperation with the Pueblo Medal of Honor Foundation, kicked off our Red, White, and Blue fundraising campaign. The Pueblo City Council recently approved a privately funded campaign to repaint all Pueblo Fire Department apparatus a special red, white, and blue paint scheme that will honor the 4 Pueblo recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor.
This program was conceived as another tribute to the city's theme as the
"Home of Heroes," which recognizes more Medal of Honor recipients per
capita than any other city in America, as well as all active duty and
veteran military service members.
Currently, Pueblo's fire apparatus are painted a lime-yellow color. Organizers have already garnered several significant donations for the campaign from local foundation and business leaders prior to this kickoff announcement, and excitement is high. Two new apparatus that the Fire Department has on order will arrive with the new paint scheme this summer and will be on display in Denver at the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) International Conference.
The campaign is off to a great start with contributions from the Pueblo Teen Council,
Colorado Fire Sprinkler, Little Caesar's Pizza, McDonald's, and Eggiman
Truck and Auto Repair. The Pueblo Sheriff's Fraternal Order of the
Police Lodge 7 also pledged to raise $10,000 for the project.
