The City of Pueblo celebrated the opening of the Arkansas River Legacy Project on May 6. The project costs more than $9 million and was the results of work by several local, state, and federal agencies. The Legacy Project guarantees an array of recreational opportunities for those in southern Colorado including kayaking, rafting, and fishing. People can also picnic along the banks of the Arkansas River.

Hundreds of people participated in the two day opening which included free raft rides, demonstrations, and exhibitions on Saturday, May 7. The Arkansas River Legacy Project is a jewel for Southern Colorado
