Our Mission Statement                                                                                                           

        The mission of the Department of Housing and Citizen Services is to preserve and enhance the quality and livability of the city's housing and neighborhoods.  To maintain the value of the real estate tax base.  To promote the economic viability, and development of the city neighborhoods, while promoting the achievement of City Council's neighborhood goals.

THIS MISSION IS CARRIED OUT BY:

  • Developing partnerships with residents to organize and improve their neighborhoods.
  • Target Neighborhood Improvement program.
  • Creating housing and upward mobility opportunities to meet citizens' needs.
  • Leveraging federal, state, and private resources to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing and neighborhood infrastructure improvements
  • Develop partnerships with neighborhood businesses in ways, which create commercial revitalization and create employment opportunities for lower income persons.
